UVTAB, stakeholders review Trainers' and Assessment Guides for Lower-level Curricula

21 October 2026 | Experts from the Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB) and other stakeholders are currently reviewing and developing the trainers’ and assessment guides for the lower-level curricula.
The Deputy Executive Secretary in charge curriculum development and management Ms Jalia Nasaza says out of the 43 programmes that are currently undergoing a review and development process, only the five have a complete curriculum package but limited content that include building construction, carpentry and joinery, roads and bridges, draughtsmanship and plumbing
Ms Nasaza made these remarks on Monday, 19th October 2026, at Arch Apartments in Kampala saying the other 30 programmes; Mechanical, Electrical, ICT, Business and Home Science programmes, have curricula but no Trainers’ or Assessment Guides.
While on the other hand, three craft programmes, namely NCC in Welding, National Craft Certificate in Business Administration and Management and National Craft Certificate in Marketing Management, have none of the three components.
Meanwhile, the Manager Assessment Training Packages, curriculum development and management, Ms Noeline Komugisha adds that the existing curricula and guides, including the civil programmes, need to be reviewed to align them with current industry practice and the UVTAB Curriculum Development Framework.
The one-week-long content review and development training brought on board 145 participants for both craft certificate programmes and the artisan certificate programmes is being supported by the senior technical facilitators from UVTAB with the general objective of expediting the curricular review process and content development.
